Checkup Documentation

Unused custom page types

severity-low cms-class-unused-custom-page-types

Summary

This checks for custom built page types that exist within your Kentico Xperience implementation but are not currently being used. While this is not an urgent issue these should be reviewed and removed if they are no longer needed as it can cause confusion during development on your site or, sometimes, performance issues.

Check Logic

Constant Care for Kentico will ensure the number of unused custom page types is no more than 0 (default)

You can manage your settings for this checkup in the Constant Care for Kentico admin settings.

Resolution

To review the usage of custom page types you can navigate to the Page Types application.

You can see which pages each page type is used on by clicking on the pencil icon. Any unused page types should be reviewed and a decision made on whether the it is necessary. Generally we recommend deleting any unused custom page types but a full review should be made of each one before deletion. Page types house many non-obvious pieces of non-obvious data that could be in use across your site.
