Constant Care for Kentico: System Health Monitoring

October 20, 2020

At times, a website or application that has been running fine for a long time suddenly fails or starts to experience issues. More often than not, there have been factors building up to that failure that have gone unnoticed. One such part of the system is the storage or disk space available to your website to be used to take new orders, track activities, and upload all the media for that new campaign you’ve been working on.

Once disk space on your web or database server runs out, simply trying to load the site can take those systems over the edge and bring down your entire site. We’ve seen it happen a number of times over the years. Constant Care for Kentico allows you to set thresholds for monitoring web server disk space, available space for the SQL log, and SQL log and data file sizes. These monitors and thresholds are the equivalents of adding a “check engine light” to your site so you know it’s time to act before you find yourself scrambling to figure out what happened to your site and how to get it back up and online.

Constant Care’s System Health checks also look to see if scheduled tasks are enabled, what version of Kentico Xperience you are using, and whether or not your emails are running correctly. That last one is a big one. We’ve helped several clients who came to us after receiving complaints that emails (newsletters, purchase confirmations, etc) were not getting delivered. They found out the hard way that emails had been broken for weeks without anybody noticing. Don’t let the ignorance of what is happening, or not happening, on your site cost you time, money, and stress. Let Constant Care for Kentico alert you in advance when action is required; then you can get back to the work of growing your business.
